What’s New with Medicare in 2026?

As we move through 2026, there are a few Medicare updates worth keeping in mind, especially when it comes to prescription drug costs.

One of the most helpful changes continues to be with Medicare Part D (Prescription Drug Plans). This year, there is a $2,100 annual cap on out-of-pocket costs for covered medications. Once you reach that amount, you won’t pay anything further for covered prescriptions for the rest of the year. This is especially important for those taking higher-cost medications.
Another feature now available is the option to spread your prescription drug costs out over the year, rather than paying larger amounts all at once at the pharmacy. For many people, this makes monthly budgeting a bit easier.
You may also notice some changes in plan details this year. Deductibles, provider networks, and drug formularies can all shift, even within the same plan. Here in the Vero Beach area, those small differences can add up over time.
A few helpful reminders:
Review your drug plan if your medications have changed
Check that your doctors are still in-network
Look at total cost—not just the monthly premium
If your plan is working well, you don’t have to make a change, but it’s always wise to take a quick look.
And a little Medicare humor:
Sometimes reviewing your plan feels like reading the fine print on a shampoo bottle: by the time you get to the end, you’re not quite sure what you just read! That’s where I can help.
As always, there is no cost to you for my assistance. If you’d like to review your coverage or ask a question, please feel free to reach out.
